Red Letters-Intersections

This week, as Maplewood continues to “stay at home,” we’re continuing our Lenten Series focusing on the RED LETTER words of Jesus Christ. Pastor Joe is focusing on John 4 and this week we are exploring what it means to be a people who worship in SPIRIT and in TRUTH in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic of 2020…

Red Letters – The Choice

This week, Maplewood continues to prepare our hearts and minds for Easter. As we continue to observe lent, Pastor Joe focuses our attention on one of the most overlooked verses. Most everyone learned “For God so love the world…” in Sunday School. But what about what Jesus said next? Join us as we continue our series entitled “Red Letters”

Red Letters-Born Again

This week, Maplewood is continuing to observe Lent. Part of preparing for Easter means focusing on the life and words of Jesus, Himself. That’s why we are going to be starting a series this week called “RED LETTERS.” We’ll start our study in John 3:3. Pastor Joe probes deeply into what it really means to be Born Again.

Coronavirus Update: Maplewood’s Response

Suspension of All In-Person Ministry / Digital Church & Podcast thru May 3, 2020

Due to the efforts being implemented to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus COVID-19, Maplewood will be doing digital church via the podcast at Maplewood which will be posted Sunday morning and available:

  • On the Maplewood website www.maplewoodnaz.org
  • Via the Apple iTunes story
  • Via Podomatic, an app that can be downloaded on smartphones
  • Via Spotify by searching for Maplewood Nazarene and subscribing to our feed.

We are thankful to have the available technology and capabilities to offer this alternative in the wake of the societal impacts that are unique in all of our lifetimes.

All worship services, NextGen and other, in person activities will be suspended until May 3, 2020.

We will continue to share prayer requests and other updates via OneCall, Facebook and our website blog.

Rationale:

This is all about love in action—putting the needs of others before our own. Given the make-up of our congregation and the desire to minimize the spread of Coronavirus COVID-19 among our vulnerable family members, this is the most prudent course of action.

Schools are cancelling. Professional and college sports are cancelling. Social distancing is the recommended strategy to slow the spread. The last thing we would want is for one of our elderly or physically vulnerable family members to contract the virus at Maplewood. We need to think about those most susceptible to this virus: the elderly, people with compromised immune systems, hypertension, diabetes, etc. We need to put their needs before our own.

Moving forward together

Even though we won’t be “together” for a few brief Sundays, we are still together as a family. Now is the time we need everyone to be reaching out to check in on Maplewood family members in your sphere of influence. One day we’ll look back on this time and realize that God was working in our midst, bringing us closer together, even though, temporarily, we needed to be apart.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Pastor Vicki or Pastor Joe

Regaining Our Sense of Shame

It’s the first week of the 2020 Lenten Season. Join us as we focus on the reality of our need for the saving grace of Jesus Christ as Pastor Joe returns and walks the Maplewood family through Romans 1. The first step to new life is to regain our sense of shame so we can embrace the gift of salvation.
